My Relative Will Cut Off Support Because I Embraced Islam

Eid Mubarak! Assalamu Alaikum. I’m a former Catholic seminarian who has now found faith in Islam. Living in the Philippines, I initially studied Islam to critique it, but recently my heart has firmly embraced it, though I’m still learning. I attended a gathering with fellow Muslims in Makati-both foreigners and locals-and for the first time, I felt a sense of community. After taking my Shahada with witnesses, a friend shared a photo of that moment, and I posted it on my Facebook stories. The backlash was intense, especially from relatives and former church friends, with some reacting violently. The hardest blow: my sister decided to stop sending us financial support, which my mother and I rely on entirely since she doesn’t work and I’m still in Grade 10. We face possible eviction and I might not continue my schooling. Yet, I say Alhamdulillah for His guidance, even as I worry about our future.
