My Journey Battling Cancer – An Update, Insha'Allah
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
On June 7th, at the age of 42, I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors (PNET) while living in Bangkok, Thailand, blessed with my loving wife and our 2-year-old son. This news has been a tremendous test for me and my family, starting with an initial diagnosis of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) where I was told I might have less than a year to live. Alhamdulillah, after further testing, it was confirmed to be Neuroendocrine tumors, offering a hopeful prognosis of 3-5 years.
By the grace of Allah, I have undergone two cycles of chemotherapy and one cycle of targeted Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT), a specialized nuclear treatment that targets cancer cells with specific receptors using Lutetium. Additionally, I had Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) to remove tumors from my pancreas, which was largely successful in eliminating the primary tumors. All of this has taken place over just a few months, so things have been progressing rapidly.

**Update as of September 27th:**
**Liver Function Tests:**
- ALT: 322 → 170 → 37 ✅ (Back to normal range, indicating reduced liver stress)
- AST: 53 → 68 → 67 ⚖️ (Stable, slightly elevated but not worsening)
- GGT: 813 → 603 → 478 ✅ (Still high but steadily improving)
**Cancer Markers:**
- CA 19-9: 2,384 → 743.8 → 629.3 ✅ (Tumor activity is decreasing)
- CEA: 11.1 → 7.4 → 6.1 ✅ (Continuous improvement)
**Scans:**
A PET-CT scan after PRRT showed significant uptake of treatment by the tumors. The doctors mentioned that the uptake was lower this time, which is a positive sign, meaning the tumors are weaker and fewer in number. We also observed that the cancer has not spread beyond the pancreas and liver, which strengthens the hope that the treatment is effective.
In about a month, I will have a Diagnostic CT to measure tumor size and check for any shrinkage or progression. The current numbers suggest that the tumors are at least being controlled with PRRT and somatostatin analogs (SSA), if not shrinking.
**Next Steps:**
I will continue with PRRT and SSA until the markers and scans reach a plateau. At that point, my doctors will evaluate whether to consider additional therapies. For now, the data shows the treatment is working, Alhamdulillah.
I inquired about other treatments or lifestyle changes beyond diet, exercise, and mental wellness, but my oncologist advised against introducing anything that might interfere with the current progress.
For the next eight weeks, I will remain focused on self-discipline to enhance my nutrition, physical fitness, and overall well-being, trusting in Allah’s plan.

I am documenting every step of this journey—not only the medical treatments but also the emotional challenges, small victories, and difficult moments. If you or someone you know is facing a similar struggle, please remember you are not alone. I am sharing my daily experience on a YouTube channel to offer support and insights for others who may benefit.
May Allah grant us all strength and healing. Ameen.
