Muhammad Firdaus Found Dead After Missing 8 Days in Mecca, Prayed Over at the Grand Mosque
Muhammad Firdaus (72), a hajj pilgrim from Pondok Labu, South Jakarta, was found dead at a hospital in Mecca on Friday (May 22, 2026). He had been reported missing since May 15, 2026, after being separated from his group while performing tawaf at the Grand Mosque.
His daughter, Nurul Fadila, received the sad news from an acquaintance in the Holy Land after eight days of searching. The family had previously contacted various hajj officials to track down Firdaus, while extreme weather with temperatures of 40-48 degrees Celsius added to the worry.
The deceased's body was then prayed over at the Grand Mosque, and the family expressed gratitude for the discovery despite the grief.
