The Directorate General of Islamic Community Guidance at the Ministry of Religious Affairs is holding the 2026 Indonesia Qibla-Oriented National Movement to take advantage of the Rashdul Qiblat phenomenon, where the sun is directly above the Kaaba. Director of Islamic Religious Affairs and Sharia Development, Arsad Hidayat, noted that 725,669 locations are participating, including 67,867 mosques, 576,309 homes, 49,680 prayer rooms, and others. This phenomenon occurs on July 15-16, 2026, at 4:27 PM WIB and 5:27 PM WITA. People can verify their qibla direction by observing the shadow of a vertical object. The monitoring center is at UPQ Ciawi-Bogor, preceded by an international Islamic astronomy seminar. The movement aims to improve literacy in falak (Islamic astronomy) and strengthen the accuracy of qibla direction in places of worship and public facilities.
