Jordan's Security Court Issues Sentences in Plot Against the Kingdom, Alhamdulillah for Justice
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. Jordan’s State Security Court recently delivered judgments in several important cases that involved threats to the nation’s safety, as reported by the official news agency. In April, authorities uncovered and stopped a plot by certain members linked to the Muslim Brotherhood who were suspected of making weapons and explosives. These individuals had operated in groups since 2021, with some receiving training abroad, including in Lebanon, to assist in missile production.
In the case related to missile manufacturing, the court sentenced Abdullah Hisham and Moath Ghanem to 15 years of hard labor and ordered them to pay court costs. Mohsin Ghanem received a 7.5-year sentence with the same conditions. The court found these individuals guilty of illegally producing weapons and also charged them with actions that endangered public safety and order.
Other defendants faced convictions related to recruitment and training activities under the Anti-Terrorism Law. However, in a separate case involving drones, four people were acquitted as the court found insufficient evidence of intent to commit a crime, and they were released.
Following these arrests, Jordan officially banned the Muslim Brotherhood and seized its assets to protect the country’s stability. The Brotherhood had been considered dissolved previously, but recent events including regional conflicts led to stricter measures, including shutting down their offices and stopping their publications.
The court’s rulings can still be appealed to the highest judicial body. May Allah protect Jordan and all Muslim lands from harm and grant justice to those who uphold peace and security.
