Hamas: Israel is preventing the return of the bodies of the dead
Assalamu alaikum. According to Hamas, the Palestinian side doesn't have the technical capability to retrieve the bodies of some Israeli prisoners of war, who still remain under the rubble after the bombings, because Tel Aviv is not allowing specialized equipment into the Gaza Strip.
The movement added that the bodies that could be reached have already been handed over to the Israeli authorities.
Hamas emphasizes that all the deceased Israeli captives died as a result of bombings by the Israeli army. Many bodies are still under the ruins of buildings or in tunnels.
"Therefore any delay in returning the bodies is entirely the responsibility of the Netanyahu government, which is obstructing the provision of the necessary means," the statement says.
Under the terms of the agreement, Hamas released 20 surviving Israeli prisoners of war. Before that, the Israelis were allowed to contact relatives and loved ones.
