Explosions heard near Sudan’s capital - may Allah protect everyone
Assalamu alaykum. I came across reports that explosions were heard near Khartoum and surrounding areas early Friday, a day after the Rapid Support Forces said they had agreed to a humanitarian truce. Witnesses say sounds of blasts woke people in Omdurman around 2 a.m. near Wadi Sayidna military base, and others reported a drone overhead and an explosion close to a power station around 4 a.m., which knocked out electricity in parts of the city.
In Atbara, about 300 km north of Khartoum, residents described seeing multiple drones after 3 a.m.; local anti-aircraft defenses reportedly engaged them while fires and explosions were seen in the eastern side of the city. So far there have been no confirmed casualty reports and neither side has officially commented on these incidents.
Separately, the Sudan Doctors’ Union said the RSF shelled a hospital in besieged Dilling in South Kordofan on Thursday morning, wounding several people, some critically, and destroying the hospital’s radiology and imaging department - a major blow to medical care there. Dilling has reportedly been under siege since June 2023.
May Allah grant safety to civilians, protect the wounded, and guide those in positions to restore peace.
