Confused During Salah: Do I Need an Extra Rak’ah and Prostration of Forgetfulness?

Salam alaikum, I just completed my prayer but felt unsure about one of the rak’ahs. I repeated it and then performed sujud as-sahw at the end. Was that the right thing to do?
