BPJPH Urges Businesses to Get Halal Certificates Ahead of 2026 Halal Mandate
The Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) is reminding business owners to get their halal certificates sorted before the Mandatory Halal policy kicks in on October 18, 2026. This policy is mandated by Law Number 33 of 2014 and Government Regulation Number 42 of 2024.
BPJPH Head Ahmad Haikal Hasan explained that this obligation covers food and beverage products, micro and small businesses, as well as imported goods. Its implementation follows the halal requirement phase for medium and large businesses that started in October 2024.
Haikal stressed that halal certification isn't just an administrative requirement, but also a protection for the public and a strategy to boost competitiveness. Products that aren't certified could face sanctions, from written warnings to being pulled from circulation.
"The sooner businesses get their halal certification ready, the better it is for their sustainability and consumer trust," Haikal said. He hopes business owners will make the most of the time left to meet the regulations while also strengthening Indonesian products' position in the global market.
