Basarnas' Latest Data: 234 People Evacuated from KMP Mutiara Sentosa 2: 5 Dead, 229 Survived

The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) recorded that out of the 234 people evacuated from the fire on KMP Mutiara Sentosa 2 in the northern waters of Sumenep, Madura, on Sunday (2/8), 229 survived and 5 died. Initial data put the number of people on the ship at 236, so two others are still having their status and whereabouts checked. The head of the Surabaya Class A SAR Office, Nanang Sigit, said they're still matching data with the passenger manifest. Some of the victims have been taken to the Tanjung Perak Command Post, while others are still on their way to the port or out in the Sumenep waters. The rescue operation involved eight ships that were in the vicinity, like KM Selaras, KN SAR Permadi 249, Ferindo 1 Ship, KRI Nala 363, TB Hasnur 26, Meratus Project 3 Ship, and Bung Hatta Ship.
