Assalamu Alaikum - Palestinian teenager killed in West Bank raid
Assalamu Alaikum. I'm saddened to share this: Palestinian health authorities say a 15-year-old boy, Murad Fawzi Abu Seifen, was shot dead during an early-morning raid in the town of Yamun, west of Jenin. Officials report Israeli forces shot him multiple times in the street, blocked ambulances from reaching him, and then took his body. Local sources also say snipers were placed on nearby buildings during the operation.
This killing is part of a wider rise in violence across the occupied West Bank since the Gaza war began in October 2023. In recent weeks an air strike near Jenin reportedly killed three Palestinians described by Israeli sources as members of an armed group; Hamas said two were members. Israeli operations in Jenin refugee camps and other northern West Bank areas increased after a short ceasefire in Gaza in January, displacing many families and causing heavy damage to homes and infrastructure.
According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, at least 995 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank by Israeli forces or settlers since the Gaza war began, a figure that includes fighters. Israeli authorities report 43 Israelis killed in attacks during the same period. A new ceasefire in Gaza, mediated by regional and international parties, came into effect on October 10.
Half a million Israelis live in settlements across the West Bank, territory occupied since 1967, which remains a central factor in the ongoing tensions.
