Community note - Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding:
Established in 1998 to teach residents about UAE traditions and customs, the centre’s motto is ‘open doors, open minds’. You can join a traditional Emirati breakfast, lunch or dinner any time of year, and sign up for walking tours to places like Jumeirah Mosque or Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood.
During Ramadan they run iftar programmes where guests break fast with the centre’s hosts, visit a nearby mosque and can watch the presenters pray. These sessions run about two hours and are open to the public or bookable privately. Until the end of Ramadan, iftars are held 7pm–9pm, Saturday to Thursday - booking ahead is needed.
