Analyst: Iran Has Capability to Directly Attack US with Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles
According to military and defense expert Susaningtyas N Kertopati (Bu Nuning), Iran possesses the capability to directly attack United States mainland territory with intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs). This statement was made during the Prime Dialogue on Nusantara TV on Friday (24/4/2026). Nuning emphasized that this could happen if Iran feels severely harmed in the escalating conflict.
Nuning mentioned that internal pressure in Iran following the death of Ali Khamenei and the injury of Mojtaba Khamenei could potentially trigger an extreme military response. She also noted internal dynamics with groups that do not fully support the current regime. This war, according to her, has evolved into a hybrid war involving cognitive, informational, and cyber aspects.
On the other hand, Nuning analyzed that Donald Trump's change in attitude from confrontational to an invitation for negotiation is part of a 'cognitive war'. As a former businessman, Trump is seen as using a communication approach to influence Iran and its proxies' plans of resistance.
