62 Percent of Hajj Pilgrims Have Returned, Kemenhaj Urges to Keep the Spirit of the Holy Land
About 62 percent of Indonesian hajj pilgrims have made it back home. As of Saturday, June 20, 2026, a total of 329 flight groups have arrived in Indonesia, bringing 127,709 pilgrims and 1,316 officers. Pilgrims are still moving from Mecca to Medina, while 15,802 special hajj pilgrims have also returned so far.
The Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) is encouraging pilgrims to see their return as a moment to hold onto the values of worship and spread good. Spokesperson Maria Assegaff stressed that the hajj journey doesn't end when you get home-it's actually the start of serving others through patience, discipline, care, and sincerity.
Maria also reminded pilgrims how important it is to follow the return rules for everyone's safety and smooth process, including the ban on carrying Zamzam water in suitcases since it's already provided at the debarkation point. She asked pilgrims to look after important documents and double-check their belongings before leaving hotels, buses, or airports.
Kemenhaj expressed appreciation to the pilgrims, officers, support staff, and the Saudi Arabian government for making the return process go smoothly. Maria hopes this homecoming brings the spirit of a blessed hajj and marks the beginning of positive change for families and communities.
