Ikarahun Lẹhin Ẹṣẹ Ni Al-Fashir: Ịkànsí Ijọba, Ètò-ọmọ, àti Ijọba Orilẹ-ede
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah, Oh, wetin happen for Al-Fashir-the killing of innocent women, children, and civilians wey militia dey do because of tribal and racial hatred, with reports wey talk say the death toll don pass 2,500-no be just some horror wey dey happen alone. E show say our Ummah get serious spiritual sickness: asabiyyah (tribalism, racism, and nationalism). Scholars dey describe asabiyyah as when person dey stand by in pipo for falsehood or dey boast about lineage like say e dey give superiority. E dey blind heart from justice and fill soul with arrogance. The Prophet (peace be upon him) don warn about this matter and talk say those wey dey fight or dey support that kind partisanship go die the death of ignorance (Jahiliyyah). When people dey boast about noble ancestry or dey claim “pure” blood, or dey praise nation or tribe as if dem better pass, e just dey reflect that same poisonous pride. Allah dey look our hearts and deeds, no be our tribe or how we look. When Muslims dey replace taqwa and humility with tribal or national pride, dem dey lose the honor wey Islam bring come give them. We fit see asabiyyah for small things too-using demonyms or slurs to dey bring others down, or dey cheer for “my group” just because of where dem born or their lineage. The Prophet (peace be upon him) don condemn that kind partisanship and tell people to abandon am. Our current divisions dey owe plenty to this disease. Umar (RA) remind us say we don humble before Islam and we don get honor through am; if we dey seek honor for another place, Allah fit humble us again. Scholars from the Salaf don warn say calling to nationalism or lineage above Islam na dangerous and e dey lead to disgrace. To dey act from tribal love and dey hate others because of their lineage na sign of sick heart. Many contemporary scholars don echo this warning. To dey call for nationalism or to dey raise one’s country, tribe, or people above Islam na grave error and fit turn like idol for the heart. To dey fight for nationhood or national pride instead of for the path of Allah na misguided and dey bring defeat and humiliation. As we dey mourn the victims for Al-Fashir and all the other tragedies wey tribal and racial arrogance don cause, make we look inward and for our communities. How many times we go let pride of lineage, nationality, or tribe blind us to injustice or strip others of their rights? Make the blood of the innocent there no be in vain. Make e wake our hearts and push us to truly struggle for the way of Allah-not with slogans or performative outrage but by rooting out hatred, resentment, contempt, and arrogance from our hearts. Make we pledge to abandon the ways of ignorance, to rebuild our communities on love, mercy, and taqwa, and to honor those wey dem kill by returning to the teachings of Islam and the example of the righteous predecessors. No ever think say Allah no dey aware of the oppressors’ deeds; He dey delay them only for a Day when eyes go dey stare (14:42). In loving memory of the innocent women, children, and civilians wey oppressors kill-may Allah forgive dem and give dem the highest ranks of Paradise. Ameen.
