Terms of Service
Last updated: 21 May 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and IT RESOURCE (AITI RESURS), LLP (BIN 230240046213), a limited liability partnership registered in the Republic of Kazakhstan at 73 Mezhdunarodnaya Street, Apartment 3, Turksib District, Almaty 050037 ("Salam.life", "we", "us", or "our"). They govern your access to and use of:
- the salam.life website and all of its subdomains, and
- the Salam.life mobile applications distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play,
together referred to as the "Service".
By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using the Service, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. The English version of these Terms prevails over any translation.
Who can use Salam.life
Salam.life is a global social network designed for the worldwide Muslim community, though anyone who meets the requirements below and agrees to these Terms is welcome to use it. To use the Service you must:
- be at least 16 years old, or older where the law of the country in which you reside requires a higher minimum age for online services;
- have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract;
- not be barred from receiving the Service under the laws of your country, of the Republic of Kazakhstan, or of any jurisdiction in which we operate.
The Service is not directed at children below the minimum age above, and we do not knowingly allow them to register. If you learn that a child has created an account, please write to info@salam.life so we can remove it.
Your account
You are responsible for everything that happens through your account. That means:
- providing accurate registration information and keeping it up to date;
- choosing a strong password (or using Sign in with Apple, Google, or another supported provider) and keeping your sign-in credentials confidential;
- not sharing, selling, or transferring your account to anyone else;
- telling us promptly at info@salam.life if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
You may have only one personal account at a time, except where we permit additional accounts (for example, for organisational pages). You must not impersonate another person, use a handle that misleads other users about your identity, or pretend to be Salam.life staff. We reserve handles that we need for product, legal or trust-and-safety purposes.
At registration you choose a gender (male or female) for the purpose of routing you to the gender-segregated areas of the Service. Where the Service offers content or features that are intentionally gender-segregated (for example, the brothers' and sisters' areas), access to those areas is conditioned on the gender you selected.
You may delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete account) or from the website at salam.life. Deletion is permanent: we remove your profile, your posts, and the personal data associated with your account, except for the limited information we are legally required to retain. The retention periods and lawful bases are described in our Privacy Policy.
You can also request deletion by writing to info@salam.life. We complete deletion requests within a reasonable time and confirm when the deletion is finished.
Your content and the licence you give us
Salam.life is built around what people post: text, photos, comments, links, and other materials ("Your Content"). You keep ownership of Your Content. You are responsible for it and for having the rights you need to share it.
To run the Service, show your posts to other users, back them up, moderate them, and improve Salam.life, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sub-licensable and transferable licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt, modify (for example to resize images or generate translations), publish, publicly display and distribute Your Content, solely in connection with operating, developing and promoting the Service. This licence ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except that:
- copies that other users have already shared, saved, or reposted may continue to exist under their own control;
- we may retain server backups for a limited time before they are overwritten in the normal course of operations;
- where Your Content has been used in aggregated, anonymised or de-identified form, that use may continue.
You also grant other users of the Service a non-exclusive licence to access Your Content through the features Salam.life makes available to them (for example viewing, liking, commenting on, sharing within the Service, or saving).
We do not use Your Content to train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models, and we do not licence Your Content to third parties for that purpose.
You confirm that Your Content does not violate anyone else's rights and that you have all the permissions you need from any people who appear in it.
Our content
Everything else in the Service — the Salam.life name and logo, the design and layout of the website and apps, our code, our editorial materials, our curated lists and our charity-projects directory — belongs to us or to our licensors and is protected by copyright, trade-mark and other intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service in accordance with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, scrape, or build a competing service from our materials, except to the extent the law expressly allows.
What you must not post or do
Salam.life is a community space, and to keep it safe and welcoming, you must not post or do anything that:
- is illegal under the laws of your country, of Kazakhstan, or of any other jurisdiction in which we operate the Service;
- infringes anyone's copyright, trade-mark, privacy, image or other rights;
- contains child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any form of sexual content involving minors, or that grooms, exploits, endangers or sexualises children — we have zero tolerance and report such content to competent authorities, including, where applicable, the U.S. National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline as contemplated by 18 U.S.C. § 2258A;
- promotes terrorism, violent extremism, genocide, or organised crime, or glorifies, supports or recruits for designated terrorist organisations;
- incites hatred, discrimination or violence against any person or group on the basis of religion, ethnicity, nationality, race, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any other protected characteristic;
- harasses, bullies, stalks, threatens, defames, dox-es, or impersonates another person, or engages in coordinated abuse;
- contains pornographic, sexually explicit, or grossly indecent material, nudity intended to titillate, or "hot-or-not" rating of real people;
- promotes random or anonymous chat features designed to facilitate intimate encounters;
- is otherwise inappropriate for a family-friendly platform;
- offers, advertises or solicits payments, donations, fundraisers, cryptocurrency, securities, gambling, multi-level-marketing income, or other regulated financial activity from other users (this restriction applies to user-generated content; it does not restrict Salam.life's own curated directory of verified charitable organisations — see the Charity projects section below);
- spreads spam, scams, phishing, malware, deceptive links, fake giveaways, or schemes that misuse the trust of others, including impersonating real charities or fundraising for causes you do not represent;
- intentionally spreads dangerous health misinformation, including about medical emergencies and treatments;
- collects, scrapes, or harvests data about other users, including by automated means, without our written permission;
- interferes with the Service — for example by overloading our systems, probing for vulnerabilities, bypassing security or rate limits, circumventing age restrictions, or using bots, crawlers or automated scripts other than those we publicly authorise;
- uses the Service to send unsolicited commercial communications, to manipulate trending or recommendation features, or to artificially inflate engagement.
If we believe content or conduct breaks these rules, the law, or the spirit of the community, we may remove or restrict the content, limit its visibility, refuse to display it through our recommendation features, warn the user, suspend the account, or terminate the account. We exercise this discretion in good faith, taking into account the seriousness and pattern of the conduct, your freedom of expression, and the legitimate interests of other users.
How we moderate content
We operate the Service with a combination of:
- Automated tools — AI-assisted content classification and basic keyword and pattern filters used to surface potentially illegal or rule-breaking material for review;
- Manual review — by our team — for reports, edge cases, and account-level decisions;
- User reporting and blocking — every post and every profile has a Report and Block control, and we encourage you to use them.
We aim to apply our rules in a proportionate way while respecting freedom of expression. This description is provided in accordance with Article 14 of the EU Digital Services Act (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065). We may use third-party tools and service providers to help with moderation; their role is described in our Privacy Policy.
Reporting illegal content or rule-breaking
If you see content that you believe is illegal, infringes your rights, or breaks these Terms, please report it through the in-app Report button on any post or profile, or write to info@salam.life. To help us act quickly, please tell us:
- where the content is (a link, screenshot, or the username of the poster);
- why you believe it is illegal or violates these Terms;
- your contact details if you would like a response.
Reports submitted through this flow serve as our notice-and-action mechanism for the purposes of Article 16 of the EU Digital Services Act and equivalent laws elsewhere. We look at every report submitted in good faith, decide what to do, and act in a timely manner. In line with Articles 11 and 12 of the EU Digital Services Act, info@salam.life is also our single point of contact for users and for Member State authorities, the European Commission and the European Board for Digital Services. The working language of this contact point is English.
Copyright complaints (DMCA and equivalents)
We respect intellectual-property rights. If you are a rights-holder (or authorised to act for one) and you believe that material on the Service infringes your copyright, please send a notice to info@salam.life with the following information, as contemplated by section 512(c)(3) of the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA"):
- your physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the copyrighted work you say is infringed;
- identification of the material on the Service you want removed, with enough detail (a link is best) for us to find it;
- sufficient contact details to allow us to reach you (such as name, email or postal address, and phone number);
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner.
info@salam.life is the official channel for DMCA notices. False or bad-faith notices may expose you to liability under section 512(f) of the DMCA and equivalent laws. If we remove your material because of a copyright notice, you may send a counter-notice to the same address. We will respond to valid notices in line with the DMCA and similar copyright laws in other jurisdictions.
We may suspend or terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright.
Blocking, muting and reporting other users
In every place where another user appears in the Service, you can:
- Block them — they will no longer see your content or be able to interact with you;
- Report them or any individual piece of their content.
We treat blocks and reports as important signals and may act on patterns we see.
AI features
Salam.life may offer features powered by artificial intelligence — for example summaries, translation, search assistance, content suggestions or moderation aids. To deliver these features we may send parts of your input or content to a third-party model provider that acts as a processor under our instructions. Our Privacy Policy describes how this works and what limits apply.
You should be aware that:
- AI outputs can be wrong, biased, out of date, or culturally insensitive. They are not professional, religious, medical or legal advice and must not be relied on as such.
- You remain responsible for anything you post that includes AI-generated material. If you publish AI-generated content, you should label it as such when this would otherwise be misleading.
- You must not use our AI features to generate content that breaks these Terms — for example, hateful, sexual, deceptive, defamatory, or illegal material — or to attack the safety controls of the underlying models.
Charity projects
Salam.life publishes a curated directory of official, registered charitable organisations at salam.life/charity-projects, and may link to them from within the apps. The directory exists to help users find trustworthy ways to give to charity. We choose listed organisations based on public registration, reputation, and the suitability of their work; we do not handle donations ourselves.
This is the reason we do not allow individual users to solicit donations, run fundraisers, or collect charitable contributions through Salam.life. In Muslim communities the trust attached to charitable appeals is very high, and that trust is regularly abused — by fake fundraisers, by impersonators of real charities, and by schemes that divert donations away from their stated cause. A small operator cannot verify every user-level appeal, and the harm of even one fraudulent campaign is significant. By concentrating charitable activity in a curated directory we can take responsibility for the list while keeping users safe from these risks.
Donations are made directly between you and the charity. We are not a party to your donation, do not receive your payment details, and make no warranty about how any charity uses funds. Read each charity's own terms before giving.
Fees and purchases
The Service is free to use today. If we offer paid features or subscriptions in the future:
- prices, billing periods and renewal terms will be shown clearly before you pay;
- on iOS, purchases made inside the app will be processed by Apple under Apple's terms and refund policy, and you can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID Settings;
- on Android, in-app purchases will be processed by Google Play under Google's terms;
- on the web, we may use third-party payment providers whose terms will be made available at checkout.
Right of withdrawal (EU/EEA consumers)
Where the law gives consumers a right of withdrawal — including the 14-day right of withdrawal under Article 9 of Directive 2011/83/EU for EU/EEA consumers entering a distance contract — you may exercise that right within the period and using the means specified at the point of purchase. The right of withdrawal does not apply to services that are fully performed during the withdrawal period at your express request, nor to digital content where performance has begun with your prior express consent and acknowledgement that the right is thereby lost, to the extent permitted by law. Because the Service is currently provided free of charge and you provide no payment to access it, the right of withdrawal has no practical financial effect today, but you remain free at any time to delete your account and stop using the Service.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your account or your access to all or part of the Service if:
- you break these Terms or applicable law;
- your conduct creates risk or legal exposure for us, for other users, or for third parties;
- we are required to do so by law, by a court, or by a competent authority;
- you have not used your account for a long time and we have given you reasonable notice;
- we discontinue the Service or a feature of it.
Where we can, we will tell you what happened and why, and we will try to act proportionately — for example by removing a single post rather than suspending an account, and by suspending an account rather than terminating it, when that is appropriate.
You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account as described above.
Changes to the Service
We are continuously improving Salam.life. We may add, change, or remove features; release new versions; or stop offering the Service in particular countries or on particular devices. Where a change materially reduces what you receive, we will try to give you reasonable advance notice through the Service.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will give you reasonable notice — for example by an in-app message, a banner on the website, or an email — and we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the new Terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the Service and delete your account.
Apple App Store — additional terms
These additional terms apply when you use the Salam.life app downloaded from the Apple App Store ("the iOS App"). They form part of the agreement between you and us, not between you and Apple.
- Acknowledgement. These Terms are concluded between you and us only, not with Apple. We — not Apple — are solely responsible for the iOS App and its content.
- Scope of licence. The licence granted to you for the iOS App is limited to a non-transferable licence to use the iOS App on any Apple-branded device that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store's Usage Rules and Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions. The iOS App may be accessed and used by other accounts associated with you via Family Sharing or volume purchasing.
- Maintenance and support. We — not Apple — are responsible for any maintenance and support for the iOS App. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support.
- Warranty. To the extent any express warranty applies, in the event of a failure of the iOS App to conform to such warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the iOS App, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to a warranty are our sole responsibility.
- Product and legal claims. We — not Apple — are responsible for addressing any claim by you or any third party relating to the iOS App or your possession or use of it, including product-liability claims, claims that the iOS App fails to comply with a legal or regulatory requirement, and consumer-protection claims.
- Intellectual-property claims. If a third party claims that the iOS App infringes their intellectual-property rights, we — not Apple — are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging the claim.
- Legal compliance. You represent and warrant that (i) you are not located in any country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and (ii) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Third-party terms. You must comply with applicable third-party terms (for example your wireless carrier's data plan) when using the iOS App.
- Apple as third-party beneficiary. You acknowledge and agree that Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and that, on your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
Google Play — additional terms
When you download the Salam.life app from Google Play ("the Android App"), your use is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service between you and Google. These Terms govern your use of the Android App itself, and you agree to comply with Google's terms in addition.
- Google is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the Android App.
- Account-deletion options are available both inside the Android App (Settings → Delete account) and on the web at salam.life, in line with Google Play's User Data policy on account deletion.
- You may not use the Android App in a way that breaks Google Play's Developer Program Policies, including the Child Safety Standards policy and the User Generated Content policy.
Warranties and disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory or otherwise. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, free of viruses, or that it will meet your specific needs. Content posted by other users is their own; we do not endorse it, and you rely on it at your own risk.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any warranty, right or remedy that mandatory consumer-protection law in your country gives you and that cannot be excluded or limited by agreement.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, data, or business opportunities, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages;
- our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service is limited to one hundred United States dollars (US$100) or the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, whichever is greater.
These limits apply to the fullest extent permitted by law. They do not limit liability that cannot lawfully be limited — for example liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence.
Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and hold us harmless from any third-party claim arising out of (a) Your Content, (b) your use of the Service in breach of these Terms or applicable law, or (c) your violation of someone else's rights. This clause does not apply to the extent it would be unenforceable under the consumer-protection law of your country of residence.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service.
This does not deprive you of the protection of any mandatory provision of the law of your country of habitual residence. In particular:
- if you are a consumer resident in the European Union or the European Economic Area, you also benefit from the mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence; you may also use the European Commission's online dispute-resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr;
- if you are a consumer resident in the United Kingdom, you may bring proceedings in the courts of the United Kingdom and benefit from mandatory UK consumer protections;
- if you are a consumer resident in Brazil, the Brazilian Consumer Defence Code (Law 8.078/1990) applies and you may bring proceedings in your place of residence;
- if you are a California consumer, you may bring proceedings as permitted by California law.
Where the law allows, claims must be brought on an individual basis and not as part of a class action or representative proceeding.
