You Only Get One Life
Salam to everyone reading this. I just wanted to share some thoughts that have been on my mind, hoping it resonates with someone out there. Living in the West as a Muslim, it hit me one day that we don’t get a second shot at life. As a believer, I can’t fight fate or Qadr. It took me ages to really get that everything happens for a reason and Allah is the best planner. You hear this all the time from elders, so it kind of goes in one ear and out the other. But when it finally clicks, you just freeze. For me, that moment made me decide to stop putting things off, wrap up my tasks within two days, and pray all five prayers right on time. I realized I need to talk to Allah directly after salah, in a clean spot, read my duas, and pray the Sunnah too. Talk to Him in any language, because He’s the Most Merciful and understands you completely. He loves you more than your own mother-she’d do anything to protect you, but Allah’s mercy is even greater, and He’s your true protector from all harm. What I’m trying to say is, it’s okay to pour your heart out to Allah, even if you feel bad for not talking to Him enough, or only reaching out when you need something. I know I need to put Allah first, and truly enjoy the mercy that comes from remembering Him, praying, and worshiping Him alone. My purpose is to worship Him sincerely and live life fully, because today won’t come back. My parents always say each day brings you closer to the grave. So I want to meet Allah with no regrets, having worshiped Him properly. I don’t claim to be ready for Judgment Day-none of us are-but I just don’t want any regrets, insha’Allah. I’ll wrap this up now, but please put your full trust in Allah. Don’t hold grudges or wish ill on anyone. Make lots of dua for yourself, your family, and the Ummah. And the best way to draw closer to Allah is to learn more about our beautiful Deen. Knowledge is worship, and the more you learn, the stronger your bond with your Creator becomes. Thanks for reading.
