Yakuza Maneges Seals Islamic Boarding Schools in Malang, Caretaker Allegedly Abuses Female Students
The Yakuza Maneges organization sealed three Islamic boarding schools in Lumbangsari Village, Bululawang, Malang Regency, on Saturday night (6/13). The sealing took place after the caretaker of the schools, identified by the initials MR, was arrested by the Malang Police in connection with alleged sexual abuse of female students.
The head of Yakuza Maneges' legal team, Muhammad Zaki, emphasized their rejection of the misuse of religious symbols to cover up immoral acts. "We warn anyone not to commit sexual abuse or deviant acts under the guise of religious garb," Zaki said. MR was arrested by the PPA and PPO Investigation Unit of the Malang Police on Saturday night (6/12).
The sealing was done to prevent new victims, as the alleged practices had been going on for more than 20 years. Yakuza Maneges is committed to overseeing the legal process until it's concluded. "We will escort this case until P-21. The response from the Malang Police investigators has been very good," Zaki said. His side also urged the detention of MR, who is a recidivist in similar cases.
The three sealed boarding schools consist of two female dormitories and one male dormitory. All students had been sent home prior to the sealing. The situation had heated up with strong reactions from residents, but now the location is monitored as quiet. This case highlights the importance of protecting students and enforcing the law against sexual violence in educational institutions.
