Witnessing Yaqut's Trial, Khalid Basalamah Returns Rp6.41 Billion to KPK over Hajj Corruption
BANDA ACEH – The owner of PT Zahra Oto Mandiri (Uhud Tour), Ustaz Khalid Basalamah, has admitted his staff member Ulfi returned USD354,500, or about Rp6.41 billion, to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). He said this while testifying in a trial over alleged corruption involving extra hajj quotas, with former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas and others as defendants, at the Jakarta Central Corruption Court on Tuesday (20/10/2026).
During the hearing, Khalid Basalamah stated that his side paid USD4,500 per pilgrim to PT Muhibbah Mulia Wisata for the 2024 special hajj departures. He admitted he didn't realize that payment was tied to fast-tracking the departure, but rather understood it as the visa fee for the special hajj that let pilgrims go without waiting in the regular queue.
This payment was made after a commissioner at PT Muhibbah Mulia Wisata, Ibnu Mas'ud, offered a departure scheme using special hajj quotas. Khalid said he trusted the offer because Ibnu Mas'ud's company is a special hajj operator (PIHK), which he believed held official quotas. KPK prosecutors confirmed the money returned by Khalid's staff to a KPK holding account is part of the evidence in this case.
