US Sends New Peace Proposal to Iran to End War
ABC journalist Alex Marquardt revealed the contents of the latest US peace proposal handed to Iran. The proposal includes significant financial concessions, like economic funds as compensation, lifting the oil export ban, gradual unfreezing of blocked funds, and lifting sanctions.
Signing a memorandum of understanding would pave the way for negotiating a final deal. The US also wants to postpone talks on tough issues, including the nuclear program, to quickly end the war. Iran would commit not to develop nuclear weapons, while decisions on nuclear enrichment are delayed until final negotiations.
Both sides would immediately end military operations, including in Lebanon, and pledge not to threaten each other. The proposal also includes a reconstruction plan for Iran supported by the US and Gulf states, as well as lifting the maritime blockade and gradual withdrawal of US forces. The signing is planned for Islamabad, Pakistan.
