Tunjina Sholawat Recitation: Arabic Text, Latin, Meaning, Virtues, and Its Basis
Sholawat Tunjina or Munjiyat is a popular sholawat containing prayers for safety, relief, and goodness in this world and the hereafter. Here's the complete text.
Latin: Allahumma shalli 'ala Sayyidina Muhammadin shalatan tunjina biha min jami'il ahwali wal afat, wa taqdhi lana biha jami'al hajat, wa tutahhiruna biha min jami'is sayyi'at, wa tarfa'una biha a'lad darajat, wa tuballighuna biha aqshal ghayat, min jami'il khairati fil hayati wa ba'dal mamat. Meaning: "O Allah, bestow blessings upon our master Prophet Muhammad SAW..." (the rest as follows).
The virtues include: getting intercession on the day of judgment, being a shield against disasters, opening the doors of mercy and sustenance, becoming a means for prayers to be answered, seeking forgiveness, and raising one's rank in the sight of Allah SWT. The basis for the recommendation to recite sholawat, for instance, is a hadith narrated by Isma'il bin Ishaq Al-Jahdiy which is considered authentic: "Whoever sends blessings upon me or asks that I receive the wasilah, then he will deserve my intercession on the day of judgment later."
