The Reality Behind Influencer Lily Jay (Read Before You Give)
Assalamu alaikum everyone, There’s been a lot of talk about a well-known “Islamic” influencer, Lily Jay, and honestly, it’s about time we looked at it closely. If you’ve seen her posts about the “Lily J Foundation,” please read this before you or anyone you know sends money her way. This all came up after a big investigation piece from ABC News Australia: *Australian influencer Lily Jay's tangled web of AI manipulation* (just a heads-up, it has some pictures of women without hijab). There’s also an article from 5Pillars that goes further into the award thing. Here’s what’s really going on, the evidence, and why her recent response video just doesn’t make sense. # 1. AI-Made Charity Stuff About Gaza Let’s be real: using AI to make fake videos of suffering or aid work is just wrong, especially when you’re asking people for money they worked hard for. * **What happened:** People noticed the foundation was sharing AI-generated videos as if they were real aid efforts, like something called an “AI Bakery in Gaza.” You can check out the breakdown here: YouTube video on the AI bakery. AI should never be used in charity posts, especially to get more donations. It’s just not honest. # 2. Past Allegations of Taking Money This isn’t the first time she’s been accused of taking people’s money. Back in June 2023, Lily Jay and her husband were arrested in Thailand for supposedly stealing around 75,000 USD (that’s about 2.5 million Baht) from a Chinese man in Bangkok. * **The proof:** Australian couple arrested in Phuket for allegedly stealing 2.5 million Baht from Chinese man in Bangkok When someone has a history like this, they really shouldn’t be running a charity without proper oversight. # 3. A Fake Humanitarian Award and Websites That Disappeared Lily recently got some “humanitarian award,” which sounds nice until you see who gave it. The award was pushed through an article by Real Media Group-which is her own company. * When people started asking questions, the Real Media Group website was quickly taken down. * **Proof:** You can still look at the archived version of her company’s site on the Wayback Machine. [Image of the so-called humanitarian award] # 4. Her Response Video Is Full of Problems Lily put out a 30-minute response video (you can find it online) trying to explain things, but honestly, it just raises more concerns: * **Playing the victim:** She says all this criticism is just because “she’s Muslim.” That’s a weak argument to avoid real questions and use our community’s support as a shield. * **No clear finances:** For 30 minutes, she cries and calls team members to prove they exist, but she doesn’t show a single bank statement, receipt, or anything to show where all the money went. * **She admits to AI:** She actually says her marketing team used “small bits of AI” to get more engagement. * **Not a real charity:** This is the big one. She admits the Lily J Foundation is set up as a business, not a non-profit. She says it’s because getting non-profit status takes a year and they had to raise money fast. Well, maybe the reason it takes time is to stop quick money grabs like this. * Her website even says: “Driven by purpose, built for speed. Lily Jay Foundation is a next-generation social enterprise and high-speed humanitarian logistics firm... To maintain absolute speed and independence, we operate as a private commercial structure, rather than traditional charity models.” # So, Please Don’t Donate Tell your family, your friends, everyone at the masjid. In Islam, sadaqah and zakat are a trust-amana. Don’t let your good heart for our brothers and sisters in Gaza, Sudan, and Uganda be taken advantage of by someone with theft allegations and fake AI content. A big thanks to Farid Responds for digging into this-his video is where a lot of this info came from. Always give to charities that are verified, clear about their finances, and properly registered. Share this so the truth gets out.
