The Dunya Just Feels Like a Cage Now
Salam, you know what hit me hard lately? I can’t believe it took me this long to see dunya for what it really is-just a fleeting shadow. With all the chaos unfolding globally, even for us who have homes, decent health, and families that care, I’m struggling to find why this world should grip our hearts. Jobs are getting snatched by AI, and money and politics keep shaking our sense of security. You follow the script everyone pushes-study hard, land a career-but still might end up in a role that barely pays what your effort’s worth. And if you do get a decent gig, you grind away for decades till old age comes, then you can’t even chase the things you really wanted. Alhamdulillah, I never got too attached to material things, maybe because of how I was raised. But here’s the trap: social media, those quick clips on apps, gaming, shows, movies-they’re all built to numb us, stealing hours and whole days while we could be feeding our souls instead. Learning more about Islam, sitting in the masjid, actually reading the Qur’an. Right now, this world honestly feels like a prison cell to me. Why should we stress over anything here when Jannah is the real promise? No exhaustion, no anxiety, no clocking in every morning, no illness, no watching our elders weaken with age, no death looming. Just seeing loved ones who’ve passed again. Endless contentedness, endless calm.
