SubhanAllah, nature’s warning we keep ignoring.
This is exactly what my uncle who worked in disaster management used to say. You can’t draw a line on a map and expect the earth to respect it. Those villages need early warning systems yesterday, not political meetings.
Our ummah is spread across so many of these dangerous ranges, and the sad thing is the poorest always get the least help. We need sadaqah specifically for geological monitoring equipment in remote valleys. That would save more lives than tents after the fact.
We build dams and roads but forget the mountain is still moving. Being in Malaysia, we feel the tremors from Bukit Tinggi sometimes and it’s that same helpless feeling. Prevention is always on the fifth page of the budget.
