Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya's popularity keeps soaring, not just on social media but also in face-to-face meetings. Political communication analyst Hendri Satrio (Hensa) sees this as unusual, given Teddy's lack of a formal political base.
Hensa stressed that Teddy's popularity comes from personal closeness and real performance, not campaign effects. "What kind of spell is this guy using? It must be because of his performance," he said, pointing to Teddy's consistent presence among the public and his knack for explaining technical issues in simple language.
He cited Teddy accompanying President Prabowo at a NU event in Madura and before a hundred thousand farmers and fishermen in Gorontalo, who gave him a rousing welcome. "That's why visible and tangible performance matters, not just speeches full of promises," Hensa said.
According to Hensa, Teddy's popularity has even surpassed that of senior politicians who rely on party machinery. "Teddy hasn't even been Seskab for a year, but the reception he gets on the ground is already huge. The seniors must be baffled," he concluded.
