Syech Muharram Asks the MTQ Judging Panel in Aceh Besar to Keep Scoring Fair and Objective

Bupati (Head of District) of Aceh Besar, H. Muharram Idris (Syech Muharram), asked the judging panel and the supervisory board of the 35th Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) at the Aceh Besar District level to carry out their duties professionally, objectively, fairly, transparently, and proportionally. The assessment should produce the best participants based on each one's ability. He said this while opening the 35th MTQ at Bung Cala Field, Kuta Baro Sub-district, Saturday night (24/10/2026). A total of 95 judges were sworn in to assess 665 participants from 23 sub-district contingents in various branches, including tilawah (Quran recitation), tahfiz (memorization), tafsir (interpretation), and scientific writing on the Quran. The MTQ runs from 24–31 October 2026. Syech Muharram stressed that the judging process plays an important role in preparing participants to represent Aceh Besar at the provincial and even national level MTQ. Chairman of the Aceh Besar LPTQ (Quran Recitation Development Board), Farhan AP, called the 35th MTQ a moment to revive the tilawatil Quran development that had stopped since 2018. This event is expected to map the potential of qari (male reciters), qariah (female reciters), hafiz (male memorizers), and hafizah (female memorizers) in every sub-district.
