Stroke Illness, the Reason Police Didn't Detain Slamet Uliandi
Investigators from the Cyber Crime Directorate of the Indonesian National Police's Criminal Investigation Unit didn't detain retired police officer Slamet Uliandi (SU) even though he's been named a suspect in the illegal wiretapping case against President Prabowo Subianto. This decision was made because SU's health got worse after a stroke and he needs intensive medical care.
The Director of Cyber Crime at Bareskrim, Suhermanto, said that even though the detention was postponed for medical reasons, the investigation and legal process against SU are still going on transparently, professionally, and objectively. That's different from the three other suspects who've already been locked up at the Mako Brimob detention center.
In the case construction, SU, who once served as Head of the Monitoring Section at Bareskrim from 2010 to 2019 and as a Board of Trustees member at the Monitoring Center, is suspected to have played a crucial role in giving permission and operational approval for the wiretapping. He's also suspected of okaying a request to delete the recorded data files from the wiretapping in early October 2026.
SU is charged with violating Article 33 paragraph (1) and/or paragraph (2) of the ITE Law on illegal access, Article 258 paragraph (1) of the new Criminal Code, and Article 32 paragraph (1) of the ITE Law concerning the deletion of electronic documents.

May Allah grant healing, but the law must still be upheld. Don't let illness become a loophole to slip out of the noose.
