Spanish CIS Survey: Majority of Citizens Consider US and Israel as Losers in War Against Iran
The results of a survey by the Spanish Sociological Research Center (CIS), released Friday (8/5/2026), reveal that 52.4% of respondents believe the United States (US) and Israel are losing the war in the Middle East against Iran. The war began with a joint US-Israel attack on February 28th and ended with a ceasefire announced by US President Donald Trump on April 7th. Only 27.6% of respondents consider the US-Israel alliance as the winner.
The survey also shows a negative perception of the international image of both countries. About 90% of Spanish citizens believe that US prestige has deteriorated, while 88.1% judge Israel's image to have declined. Furthermore, 92.2% of respondents are convinced that President Trump's international image has been shaken, and 86.3% think the same has happened to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Economic and humanitarian impacts are also of concern. Some 71.3% of respondents believe the US economy has suffered due to the war, and 82.3% estimate this conflict has increased global poverty and hunger. This poll was conducted from April 22-30, 2026, involving 6,001 respondents aged 18 and over, with a margin of error of ±1.3%.
