Senator Nawardi Talks About Cutting Gas Exports to Singapore, Reminds Us Why Bilateral Relations Matter
Indonesia, through SKK Migas, has cut back the volume of natural gas exports to Singapore as of Saturday (24/10). Senator Ahmad Nawardi stressed that any energy export policy has to think about whether there's enough supply for our own needs first.
According to Nawardi, stopping exports altogether could be an option if domestic demand isn't met yet, but it has to be based on a proper calculation of energy needs and economic interests-not just gut feelings or rivalry.
He also warned about how important it is to keep a good bilateral relationship with Singapore since both countries rely on each other. Communication and respecting each other's rules, he said, are super crucial so that economic issues don't spiral into tension.
