Saudi Arabia Issues Brief Warning of Attack Threats in Mecca, Jeddah, and Taif
Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense Authority on Tuesday (Sept 14) put out a short warning about possible attacks in several areas, including Mecca, Jeddah, and Taif. The alert came amid a string of Houthi attacks over the past few days and marks the first such warning for Mecca since the regional conflict escalated.
The warning was withdrawn not long after it was issued. A day earlier, ballistic missile and drone strikes from Yemen injured 13 people in southern Saudi Arabia.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said they launched a large-scale operation targeting the King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait on Monday (Sept 13). He described it as a response to Saudi airstrikes inside Yemen. So far there’s been no direct word from the Saudi side about the damage claims from that attack.
Saudi Civil Defense had previously issued a warning for Khamis Mushait but later announced the situation was under control.
