Refly Harun: Jokowi Seemed Worried About Diploma Issue Being Taken to Court
Lawyer Refly Harun said that the 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) seemed worried if the alleged fake diploma case gets tested in an open trial. According to him, proving it in court would be a real test for Jokowi. "The one who's scared is Jokowi. What does he have to prove, anyway?" he said on the Rakyat Bersuara program on iNews, Tuesday (26/5/2026).
Refly highlighted the handling of the case against his clients, Roy Suryo and Tifauzia Tyassuma, pointing out what he sees as problematic procedures. He mentioned that the deadline for submitting the case files was exceeded by more than 100 days past the due date of February 8-9. On top of that, there were three investigation warrants in the same case, dated June 14, January 15, and March 30, 2026.
Refly emphasized that if the diploma controversy is openly proven, Jokowi would be in a tight spot. "I'm pretty sure he wouldn't dare. Even though, if we talk about transparency, good governance, clean government, the more you try to dodge it, the more obvious it is that nothing's right," he insisted.
