Rare Blue Moon Phenomenon Appears May 31, 2026, Note the Time in Indonesia
The Blue Moon phenomenon is scheduled to happen on May 30–31, 2026. A Blue Moon is when there are two full moons in the same calendar month. The term refers to a calendar thing, not the moon actually changing color.
This phenomenon is pretty rare, usually happening every two to three years. The Blue Moon in May 2026 coincides with a micromoon, when the moon is at its farthest point from Earth, so it looks about 7 percent smaller.
The peak of the Blue Moon is expected at 15:45 WIB, but people can catch the full moon the night before into the early morning hours. After May 2026, a similar phenomenon is expected on December 31, 2028.
