Radicalism Threat Shifts to Phone Screens, NTB Strengthens Digital Literacy
Mataram – The spread of radical ideology among young people is increasingly growing through digital spaces, such as social media, smartphones, and even online games. This was discussed in a coordination meeting on mapping potential threats of terrorism and radical ideology at the NTB Prosecutor's Office on Thursday (13/8).
Head of Sub-Directorate I.C for Defense and Security at the Directorate of IPPK, Junior Attorney General for Intelligence, Fatkhuri, stated that the pattern of spreading radical ideology is now much more structured and difficult to detect because it exploits online games, vulnerable parenting patterns, and family breakdowns.
The NTB Social Services Agency P3A recorded that as of June there were 16 children identified as exposed to radical ideology, plus nine children from East Lombok. Some of them even have technical abilities such as assembling bombs and hacking after being exposed through digital spaces.
To prevent this, NTB's Diskominfotik in collaboration with Densus 88 is conducting digital literacy, including providing training to students in MPLS activities. In addition, the government is encouraging strengthening child protection in digital spaces and strengthening the community's economy through cooperatives. Cross-sector collaboration is expected to strengthen the prevention of radicalism and protect children from the negative influences of digital spaces.
