Police Arrest Sham Healer in Gresik, Using Alternative Treatment as a Cover

The PPA Unit of Gresik Police Criminal Investigation Division arrested NA (48), a resident of Sekapuk Village, Ujungpangkah, on suspicion of sexual violence against his patient, HB (29). The perpetrator took advantage of the victim's post-divorce depression by offering alternative treatment involving meditation, prayer, and massage. The perpetrator promised a cure if the victim agreed to an unregistered marriage, even claiming the victim as his 'spiritual wife'. It culminated in late May 2025, when the victim was taken to a remote hut and forced into sexual intercourse. The victim reported the case in January 2026, and the perpetrator was arrested without resistance. Police suspect there may be other victims with a similar pattern. NA is charged under Article 6C of Law No. 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence, which carries a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison.
