Physical Fitness as the Key Factor for Hajj Pilgrims Approaching the 2026 Armuzna Phase
Indonesia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) is reminding us how important physical readiness and the discipline to maintain health are for Indonesian pilgrims ahead of the peak phase of worship in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina (Armuzna) in the year 1447 H/2026. Kemenhaj's spokesperson, Maria Assegaf, emphasized that the main factor in facing this dense and energy-draining phase is having the body in prime condition, with appeals to conserve energy, get more rest, and maintain a proper diet and fluid intake early on.
As of Thursday (14/5/2026), Hajj operations are running smoothly with 353 clusters (136,422 pilgrims) having arrived in Mecca out of a total of 395 clusters dispatched. The Saudi Arabian Hajj Organizing Committee (PPIH) is focused on finalizing peak services, including the readiness of tents in Arafah which has reached 90%, and reviewing Masyair bus transportation. The government is also preparing mitigation measures to anticipate congestion in the pilgrims' movement routes.
Extreme hot weather in Saudi Arabia poses a serious challenge, especially for elderly and high-risk pilgrims. Kemenhaj is advising to limit outdoor activities during the daytime, use personal protective equipment like umbrellas and masks, and coordinate with health workers if experiencing any issues. Active monitoring and health education are continuously carried out by Indonesian Hajj health officers at various service points to ensure worship proceeds safely and devoutly.
