Pasuruan Mayor Appreciates Nderes Exhibition, Elevating Scholarly Heritage and Ulama History
Pasuruan Mayor Adi Wibowo attended the Nderes Art and Manuscript Exhibition: Salafiyah Pasuruan Treatise and the History of Civilization held by Ma'had Aly Salafiyah Pasuruan in commemoration of the 45th Haul of Almaghfurlah KH. Abdul Hamid at the Pasuruan City Tourism Information Center (TIC) building, August 19–25, 2026. The exhibition displays 22 manuscripts by salafiyah scholars, introducing art, manuscripts, history, and Pasuruan's scholarly heritage.
The Mayor expressed his appreciation, stressing the importance of knowing the scholarly heritage and history of the ulama, including KH. Abdul Hamid. "Our ulama are so rich, the history of Romo Kiai Hamid is so rich... This is what we all want to know," he said. He affirmed that artistic heritage is closely tied to scholarly heritage; many sciences like mathematics and natural sciences actually originated from ulama.
Mas Adi emphasized history as the foundation of the future, important for Pasuruan City as a City of Santri and a City of Heritage. He reminded everyone to preserve historical remnants, including the former PBNU office, so future generations won't lose the story. The city government provides TIC facilities and a mini theater for artistic, scholarly, and community activities.
The event was attended by Deputy Mayor Mokhamad Nawawi, Syaikhina KH. M. Idris Hamid, caretaker of Salafiyah Pasuruan Islamic Boarding School, and Lora Usman Al-Alkhyari, Chairman of Nahdlatut Turats.
