Our suffering brothers and sisters around the world
Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh, dear brothers and sisters. I pray Allah has blessed your day with peace and goodness. I wanted to talk about some of our fellow Muslims who are going through immense hardship, but we hardly ever get updates about them. Yemen: The war there has taken the lives of about 377,000 people, from both fighting and its consequences. The Saudi-led coalition started their military involvement back in March 2015. Out of the total deaths, around 259,000 were kids under five- mostly from severe hunger, malnutrition, and illnesses that could have been avoided. This disaster got much worse because of the blockades and restrictions placed on the country. May Allah shower His mercy and protection on our family in Yemen. May they find freedom and prosperity soon, Ameen. Sudan: Since last year, the death counts are somewhere between 150,000 and 400,000. The country is falling apart, and millions are dealing with extreme hunger, sickness, and barely any medical help. The UN and rights groups say the UAE is backing the RSF with weapons, drones, and other support. May Allah wrap our brothers and sisters in Sudan with His care and protection. May they see a day of peace and success, Ameen. Sadly, there are so many more places where our Ummah is struggling and most people don’t even realize it. Let’s remember our brothers and sisters in Palestine, Lebanon, Iran- and the women in Afghanistan who are blocked from getting an education and so much more. To every Muslim facing hardship anywhere in the world, know that Allah is with you, so keep your heart strong. May Allah bless and safeguard each one of you, Ameen.
