NTB Provincial Government Urges Public to Stay Calm and Prioritize NKRI Unity in Lombok-Bali Dispute Case

The Provincial Government of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) is urging the public to remain calm and not prolong the polemic regarding the mediation of a dispute between Lombok residents and a tailoring business owner in Badung, Bali. NTB Provincial Government spokesperson, Ahsanul Halik, emphasized that the issue should not develop into an inter-ethnic or inter-regional conflict. Ahsanul conveyed the importance of a calming attitude from all parties and invited the public not to be provoked by video clips or narratives on social media. He also reminded that the social, cultural, economic, and familial ties between NTB and Bali are very close, so a single incident should not disrupt the good relations that have been built. The NTB Provincial Government also highlighted the principle of neutrality and propriety of public officials in handling community issues. Ahsanul asserted that public officials must prioritize the interests of the state, justice, and unity, not primordialism.
