MUI Clarifies 'Prabowo-Style Islam' Book Is Not an Official Organizational Product
The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) made it clear that the book 'Prabowo-Style Islam' is not part of their official programs, activities, or products. This clarification came out as the book sparked another round of public controversy.
MUI stated that the entire content, viewpoints, and publishing process of the book are solely the responsibility of the author and publisher. The appearance of MUI's General Chairman, KH M. Anwar Iskandar, at the book launch was just part of his attendance at Baznas's National Coordination Meeting as a prayer reader, not as any kind of endorsement for the book.
This clarification got stronger after several figures, like TGB Muhammad Zainul Majdi and Gus Kautsar, said they never submitted any writings for the book. MUI stressed they're not responsible for the book's content or its publication.
