Muhammad Firdaus Missing for 8 Days in Makkah During Tawaf, Prayed Over by Thousands at the Grand Mosque
Muhammad Firdaus (72), an Indonesian hajj pilgrim from Pondok Labu, South Jakarta, was found dead at a hospital in Makkah on Friday (May 22, 2026). He had been reported missing since Friday (May 15, 2026) after getting separated from his group during tawaf at the Grand Mosque.
His daughter, Nurul Fadila (37), said that her father had actually been found once with his wife, but then went missing again for eight days. The search was carried out by officials, and the family kept trying to contact various parties.
The sad news reached the family early Friday morning from an acquaintance in Makkah. A Linjam officer then accompanied Nurul's mother to check at the hospital. The extreme weather, with temperatures hitting 40–48 degrees Celsius, only added to the family's worry.
The family is grateful that the deceased was prayed over at the Grand Mosque and buried in Makkah, while his wife continues with the hajj pilgrimage.
