MTsN 1 Lasem Teacher Apologizes After Blocking Coverage of MBG Food Poisoning
Purwantini, a teacher at MTsN 1 Lasem in Rembang, Central Java, issued a public apology on Thursday, September 10, 2026, after allegedly obstructing journalists from Rajawali TV and Disway Jateng who were covering a suspected food poisoning case linked to the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program. She admitted her actions were a slip-up and said she didn't mean to get in the way of press work.
Purwantini said the madrasah is now open to media crews and has given their side of the story about the poisoning reports. The students' condition has reportedly improved and classes are back to normal.
Earlier, a video of a verbal clash between the teacher and journalists went viral on social media. The Indonesian Television Journalists Association (IJTI) Muria Raya slammed the act and reminded that blocking journalists is a criminal offense under Article 18 of Law No. 40 of 1999 on the Press.
