MPR Speaker Urges Islamic World to Strengthen Unity for Palestine's Independence
MPR RI Speaker Ahmad Muzani is calling on Muslim-majority countries to tighten their unity and push for Palestine's independence. He made the appeal at the International Summit of Religious Affairs in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Friday (12/6/2026). He stressed that the Islamic world has a moral duty to speak out for an end to the conflict and to support the Palestinian people's right to freedom.
Muzani described Palestine's independence as a "debt" and a constitutional responsibility of Indonesia. This lines up with the Preamble of the 1945 Constitution, which states that independence is the right of all nations and that colonialism must be abolished. He also urged Islamic leaders around the world to keep demanding a halt to the war in the Middle East, which he said ruins human lives and disrupts global stability.
Beyond the Palestine issue, Muzani highlighted the need to strengthen the Islamic world's role in tackling global challenges, like improving education quality, healthcare, tech mastery, and poverty reduction. He pointed to the progress of Indonesia and Malaysia as Muslim-majority nations that keep growing through human resource development and economic stability.
Muzani also pushed Muslims to innovate and adapt with the times so Islam gets better known as a tolerant and moderate faith. He reminded everyone of the importance of Muslim unity, plus harmonious ties between nations and religions, to create a lasting global peace.
