Mosque Caretaker in South Lampung Arrested on Suspicion of Sexual Abuse against Person with Disabilities
Police have arrested JS (75), a mosque caretaker in Merbau Mataram district, South Lampung, for allegedly sexually abusing CW (23), a girl with a mental disability. The acts were supposedly committed five times in the mosque warehouse where the suspect worked.
The crime came to light after locals caught him in early October 2026. JS briefly fled to Bandar Lampung, but was finally nabbed at his home early Wednesday (21/10/2026) by the PPA unit of South Lampung police's criminal investigation division.
PPA unit head Ipda Sigit Ponco Winarno said the suspect took advantage of their closeness as neighbors and the victim's physical and mental limitations. JS is charged under Article 6 letter c of Law No. 12/2022 on sexual violence crimes, in conjunction with Article 473 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code, facing a maximum of 12 years in prison.
