Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Arifatul Choiri Fauzi praised the swift action of Gresik Police in uncovering an alleged sexual abuse case against a child in Menganti District, Gresik. The quick response from authorities is considered crucial to protect the victim and take legal action against the perpetrator.
The case involves a suspect with the initials W (61), the victim's biological grandfather. Following a report from the victim's mother on June 5, 2026, the Women and Children Protection Unit of the Gresik Police Criminal Investigation Unit conducted an investigation and apprehended the suspect. The 14-year-old victim allegedly experienced repeated abuse.
The police not only enforced the law but also ensured the victim's recovery through a medical examination, psychological support, and securing evidence. The suspect has been detained for further legal proceedings.
