Mas Bechi, the Student Rapist, Gets Parole, MUI: It Stings the Victims' Sense of Justice
Moch Subchi Azal Tsani, aka Mas Bechi, convicted in a sexual assault case at an Islamic boarding school, walked out on parole from Malang Class I Prison since August 20, 2025. Siti Ma'rifah, head of the MUI for Women, Youth, and Family, stressed that this really stings the public's sense of justice, especially for the victims. He got a seven-year sentence but only did three.
Siti said even though the law allows parole, the reasoning behind granting it matters a lot. She added, the law is supposed to deliver justice for society, and the victims are still dealing with trauma. She told people to watch out so something like this doesn't happen again.
Siti suggested the convict probably shouldn't go back to the boarding school or be allowed to interact with students. There should be a written statement from the perpetrator saying he won't repeat his actions and is ready to face tougher penalties. The local Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPS) is expected to keep supporting the victims, and the boarding school folks have to take full responsibility to stop any kind of violence.
The Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas) confirmed that Bechi's parole was based on Minister of Immigration and Corrections Decree No. PAS-1429.PK.05.03 of 2025, according to the law. Budi Waskito from Ditjenpas said there was no special treatment, and all inmates who meet the requirements get processed according to the rules.
