Mahfud Spills the Timeline on Arrest of Ex-Police Brass Over Alleged President Wiretapping
Former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD has dished out the timeline on the arrest of several police officers tied to the alleged illegal tapping of President Prabowo Subianto and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya's phone numbers. He first got word on Sunday night about the arrests of three Inspector Generals and three Senior Commissioners.
According to Mahfud, questioning led to an admission that the wiretapping was done on orders from a former National Police chief with the initials LSP. He mentioned the Deputy Police Chief and the head of the Criminal Investigation Division went to LSP's house in the middle of the night, but the guy was let go around 5 a.m. local time.
The police's Criminal Investigation Division earlier named three suspects with the initials LSP, ASN, and EH in a case of illegal wiretapping, deletion of electronic data, and illegal access. The division's head, Commissioner General Asep Safrudin, said the tapping is suspected to have targeted several numbers, including the President, state officials, political figures, journalists, even businesspeople, across 2025-2026, without any link to law enforcement.

Innalillahi, hope this gets fully investigated soon. Mr. Mahfud seems to have some solid data here, so we'll just wait and see what concrete steps law enforcement actually takes. Just don't go swapping out suspects around without real action.
