Legal Expert Suggests Postponing MBG, Calls for Total Evaluation After Ex-BGN Chief’s Arrest
Surabaya – Legal expert from Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya, Satria Unggul Wicaksana, is pushing for a thorough evaluation of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) following the naming of former National Nutrition Agency (BGN) head Dadan Hindayana as a suspect. He suggests the government consider postponing the program until the evaluation is done.
According to Satria, this case’s momentum should be used to fix governance, including targeting groups that really need it like kids at risk of stunting and underprivileged families. Inter-ministerial data integration is also seen as key so the program hits the right targets.
Satria highlighted the need for budget certainty that supports economic resilience and the education sector. He reminded that the 20 percent allocation of the state budget for education shouldn't be disrupted by budget adjustments.
He also urges law enforcement to investigate financial transactions related to MBG to ensure accountability. Previously, the Attorney General's Office named Dadan along with two former BGN Deputy Heads as suspects over allegations of drafting a work reference framework that didn't match field needs.
