Lawyer Denies HTI Links to Jokowi Fake Diploma Allegations
Lawyer Ahmad Khozinudin has brushed off accusations from PSI politician Dedek Prayudi, who tried to connect Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) with the alleged fake diploma case involving Indonesia’s 7th president, Joko Widodo. Dedek reckons the legal defense mounted by Khozinudin carries an ideological motive from HTI to delegitimize the government. Khozinudin is known as a former HTI activist before the group was banned.
Khozinudin insists his advocacy is purely at his client’s request and aims to clean up the nation’s legacy from the possibility of being led by a president with a fake degree. He also pointed out that HTI wasn't banned due to violence, but because of the organization’s steady commitment to promoting good, forbidding wrong, and preaching the caliphate.
