Labor Action and National Concern Council Demand Transparency in Case of Tax Employee Fired After Reporting Alleged Corruption
The Federation of Chemical, Energy, and Mining Workers Unions (FSP KEP) KSPSI AGN together with the National Concern Council (DPN) will hold a peaceful action at the North Sumatra II Regional Tax Directorate General (DJP) office in Pematangsiantar on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. This action is a response to the removal of Bursok Anthony Marlon from his position as Head of the Administrative and Household Affairs (TURT) Subdivision at the North Sumatra II DJP Regional Office through the Director General of Taxation Decree Number KEP-70/PJ/2026 dated April 30, 2026. The masses view this removal as an attempt to silence Bursok, who had reported alleged tax and banking corruption since 2021, including the involvement of fictitious companies such as PT Antares Payment Method and PT Beta Akses Vouchers.
In an action estimated to be attended by around 100 people, the masses put forward nine main demands. These demands include a request for transparency regarding the supervisory results of the Bursok case, condemnation of alleged intimidation and criminalization of workers, and pressure to expose alleged shell companies that fail to meet tax obligations. Abdul Arif Namora Sitanggang, the person in charge of the action, emphasized, "We strongly condemn the alleged intimidation against Brother Bursok Anthony. He is entitled to legal protection, not pressure and silencing." This action also demands clarity regarding the unjust termination of several other workers.
Bursok Anthony Marlon stated that his removal occurred after he sent an open letter to President Prabowo Subianto, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, asking them to resign for allegedly failing to follow up on his reports. He claims to have refused a settlement offer of Rp25 billion to maintain his integrity. This case has now become a national spotlight, touching on issues of whistleblower protection and transparency in law enforcement in the taxation sector.
