KPK Catches BNPB Official Red-Handed in Disaster Fund Corruption Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) carried out a sting operation within the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) back on October 13. Five people have been named suspects in an alleged corruption case involving the Ready-to-Use Fund (DSP).
Apparently this practice has been going on since 2022, involving irregularities in the procurement of goods and services through direct appointments linked to one of the suspects. The procurement value reached around Rp148 billion for the 2024-2026 period.
This embezzlement of aid funds is being seen as a real injustice to disaster victims who need recovery assistance. It reflects weak integrity and oversight in managing public money, and a system that still doesn t fully guarantee accountability.
Applying a system founded on Islamic values is believed to be able to prevent corruption by strengthening faith, character education, community oversight, and tough sanctions that have a deterrent effect and restore public rights.
